1. Our Commitment to Net Zero

Blue Sky Hosting Ltd recognizes that as a provider of data processing and hosting services (SIC 63110), we have a direct responsibility to mitigate the environmental impact of digital infrastructure. We are committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 at the latest, with internal milestones aimed at reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030.

2. Sustainable Infrastructure & Cloud Hosting

For all services provided under the G-Cloud 15 framework, Blue Sky Hosting Ltd prioritizes “Green IT” principles:

  • Renewable Energy: We ensure that our primary data center partners utilize 100% renewable energy sources or provide high-quality Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs).

  • PUE Optimization: We actively monitor the Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of our infrastructure, selecting facilities that employ advanced cooling techniques and cold aisle containment to minimise energy waste.

  • Carbon Neutral Operations: We maintain a remote first consultancy model for our support staff, eliminating unnecessary travel and reducing the carbon footprint of our service delivery teams.

3. Circular Economy & Resource Management

Blue Sky Hosting Ltd operates in accordance with an Environmental Management System (EMS) and aligns with ISO 14001:2015 standards:

  • Hardware Lifecycle: We follow a strict “Repair, Reuse, Recycle” policy. Any hardware reaching end-of-life is processed through WEEE compliant partners to ensure zero-to-landfill for hazardous electronic waste.

  • Zero Waste Office: We operate a paperless administration system. All internal procurement prioritises suppliers with sustainable packaging and recycled material content.

  • Digital Sustainability: We consult with our public sector clients to optimize their cloud resources, preventing “zombie servers” and over-provisioning, which directly reduces energy consumption.

4. Supply Chain & Compliance

  • PPN 06/21 Compliance: We monitor our carbon footprint annually. For contracts exceeding the relevant thresholds, we maintain a comprehensive Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP).

  • Sustainable Procurement: We vet our sub-contractors for their own environmental commitments, ensuring that the entire Blue Sky Hosting supply chain reflects the UK Government’s Greening Government Commitments (GGC).
